The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially published the Skill Test Exam City Details for the Stenographer Grade C & D Examination 2026. Based on the respective Enrollment Number, Registration Number or Date of Birth, the information of exam cities can now be viewed by the candidates by logging into the SSC portal. The Skill Test will be held on January 28-29, 2026. This announcement allows aspirants to plan their travels early and prepare accordingly. The Skill Test Admit Card will also be available soon on the official SSC website. This recruitment is an excellent opportunity for aspirants looking forward to Central Government Jobs in India and selected candidates will be appointed in different ministries and departments under SSC.

Payment Options (Online): Candidates can pay the fee using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, IMPS or Mobile Wallet services.
Pay Scale
Stenographer Grade C: Pay Level 6 under the 7th CPC with a basic salary of Rs. 35,400/- per month, ranging up to Rs. 1,12,400/-, along with allowances like DA, HRA and TA, making the in-hand salary approximately Rs. 50,000 – Rs. 55,000/-.
Stenographer Grade D: Pay Level 4 under the 7th CPC with a basic salary of Rs. 25,500/- per month, ranging up to Rs. 81,100/-, plus allowances including DA, HRA and TA, giving an in-hand salary of around Rs. 35,000 – Rs. 40,000/-.
Selection Process
When a Computer Based Examination (CBE) is held for the candidates in recruitment, they have to take the reasoning, general awareness and language skills tests.
The results of the written examination are announced and only those who meet the official cut-off are shortlisted.
Qualified candidates must appear for the Skill Test in Stenography and Transcription, designed to assess their typing speed and accuracy in either English or Hindi.
Successful candidates moved to document verification, which ensures that all the certificates, eligibility proofs and personal information are valid.
Finally, it prepares merit list combining the scores in the examination with those of the performance in the skill test and allocates postings according to the rank and rules of reservation.
