Selection Process for Indian Army JAG 124th Course Recruitment 2026
- The Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army) will curate applicants based on the criteria and eligibility of the Army JAG Entry Scheme and primarily CAT PG 2025 Army Entry results.
- Candidates who have made the shortlist will register their location/center preference and initial date for Selection Services Board (SSB) as per specified procedure online on a “First Come, First Serve” basis at either of the four SSB Stations (Prayagraj/Bhopal/Bangalore/Jalandhar).
- Candidates who are positively assessed by an approved SSB will be referred to a Medical Board for examination of their physical/mental/psychological suitability for employment under the JAG Scheme of the Indian Army.
- The Directorate will compile the final list of candidates approved for Judge Advocate General Branch Jobs based on SSB results and the results of Medical exams.
- When issued by the Indian Army, applicants will receive Letter of Appointment based on their assigned position on the Final Merit List and the number of available Indian army vacancy.

The candidates should be male or female with law degree, not married, aged 21-27 years in July 1, 2026. The applicants must have at least 55% aggregate mark in their LLB degree and be passed the CLAT PG 2025 exam. Also, the candidates should be eligible to be registered as an advocate or a State Bar Council.
Starting from the shortlisting of applications, based on scores on CLAT PG 2025. The shortlisted candidates are then invited to a five-day SSB interview in May or June 2026 at the specific centers. Individuals who are suggested by the SSB are thoroughly examined medically. Lastly, joining letters are given to medically fit candidates in merit order, based on the eight availed vacancies.
In the course of the 49 week training in OTA Chennai, cadets are given a monthly stipend of Rs. 56,100/-. When commissioned successfully as a Lieutenant, officers join Level 10 of the Pay Matrix (Rs. 56,100 – Rs. 1,77,500/-) plus an extra Military Service Pay of Rs. 15,500/- per month. The overall CTC is about 17-18 lakh per annum with other allowances such as dearness, dress allowances etc.
