1. Primary Teachers (PRT)

If you are passionate about educating little birds, this gateway is for you.

  • Education: In general, a 12th certificate with a minimum 50% score and a Diploma of 2 years in Elementary Education or equivalent.

2. Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT)

TGTs handle subjects from classes VI to X.

  • Education: A Bachelor’s qualification with a minimum of 50% marks in the corresponding subject combination (e.g., Maths, Science, Social Studies).
  • Professional Qualification: You need a B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) degree.

The Selection Path: Your Road to the Classroom

You must be eager to find out the right road leading to one of these 14,967 slots? To hire only talented educators, the body has carefully designed a multi-stage process.

Step 1: The Written Exam (CBT)

This is the main test, a Computer-Based Test (CBT) that comes in two parts:

  • General Aptitude: This section examines your Reasoning, General Awareness, Computer Literacy, and Language (Hindi & English).
  • Subject-Specific Knowledge: Checking your expertise in the subject you applied for.

Step 2: The Interview / Demo Teaching

After passing the cut-off, there will be an interview. PRT, TGT, and PGT roles usually require a demo. This is your chance to show off your knowledge and teaching style. Are you able to break down a complex topic in easy language? Can you manage a classroom? This stage tests your practical teaching ability.

Final Selection Weightage

For teaching posts, the final merit list is usually calculated by giving a high weightage to the Written Exam marks and a smaller, but still significant, weightage to the Interview/Demo Teaching score. Normally, the ratio remains 85% for the written part and 15% for the interview/demo part. For maximum chance of getting selected, the candidate must shine in both!

Why Target KVS/NVS in 2025

  • National Importance: By adhering to the CBSE structure strictly for years, these schools have earned a nationwide academic reputation.
  • Attractive Package: The pay scale falls under the 7th Pay Commission. That makes basic salary often go higher compared to many state government jobs. DA (Dearness Allowance), HRA, and other allowances are also part of the salary package.
  • All-India Transferable Work: Transfers mean an opportunity to work and live in different regions of the country.
