Posted on: November 26, 2025
If you’re an MBBS graduate dreaming of a stable, respectable, and powerful government job, pay attention. A notification, posted by the Medical Services Recruitment Board (MRB) of Tamil Nadu, is transforming the career of doctors in the state. This is not a small, quiet recruitment drive. We are talking about a massive 1100 government medical jobs in India for the post of Assistant Surgeon (General).
This recruitment drive directly leads to a permanent job in the Tamil Nadu Medical Service, all the perquisites, and stability of a top-level government job.
This is your opportunity to leave the uncertainties of private practice behind and embark on a position that offers unprecedented job security and civic service. But you have to move fast. The online application window has a short lifetime, with a close deadline of December 11, 2025.
The Paycheck and The Prestige: Level 22
The remuneration for the Assistant Surgeon post is very attractive right from the start.
The role falls under Level 22 of the Pay Matrix. This means an initial basic pay of ₹56,100 per month. When you add all the government allowances—Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other special schemes—the in-hand salary at the entry level is highly competitive and quite substantial. The scale itself goes up to an impressive ₹2,05,700.
Being an Assistant Surgeon in the government sector carries immense prestige. You will be at the frontline of primary healthcare, managing rural hospitals, district health centers, and contributing directly to public welfare. The impact one can make with government medical jobs in India is arguably far greater than many private positions.
