Age Limit

Age Relaxations
- SC/ST candidates: 5 years.

- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years for UR, 13 years for OBC, 15 years for SC/ST.
- Ex-servicemen: Total military service plus 3 years, subject to a minimum of 6 months regular service after attestation.

Stipend
- Stipend Amount: Rs. 7,000 per month (for 1st year apprentices; rates may vary slightly by year of training and are subject to revision based on government rules).
- Duration: Typically 1 year, as per the notified trades.
- Note: This stipend is non-pensionable and taxable. No additional allowances (e.g., HRA, DA) are provided. Post-training, there is no guaranteed employment or absorption into regular railway service.
Selection Process
- Merit list prepared based on average of Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate marks) and ITI marks with equal weightage.
- Marks calculated using all subjects in Matriculation.
- Tie-breaker: Older candidate preferred; if ages same, earlier Matriculation passer prioritized.
- Document verification conducted at opted Division/Unit.
- Medical fitness check required as per Apprentices Act, 1961.
- Final enlistment subject to document verification and medical fitness.
