Metro Railway, Kolkata has released the official notification of the Engagement of Act Apprentices of the Apprentices Act, 1961 as of the training year 2026 27. The number of slots announced in specific ITI trades such as Fitter, Electrician, Machinist and Welder has reached 128. Online applications can be submitted by eligible Indian nationals who have completed a minimum of 50 percent marks in 10th Class, possessing a valid ITI certificate (NCVT/SCVT) in the pertinent trade and start submitting their applications on December 23, 2025. Pay Scale
- During the period of training, Stipend will be paid according to the provisions of Apprentices Act, 1961 that live.
- Stipend rate will be as notified by the Railway Board periodically.
Selection Process
- The selection process uses a purely merit-based system (no written test or interview).
- Governments make the merit list trade-wise and community-wise.
- To compute marks, the officials average the percentage of Matriculation (10th) and ITI exams and do not attach different weighting to them.
- Recruitment team shortlists candidates at the ratio of 1:50 to the announced vacancies.
- Shortlisted candidates are called by Metro Railway to be verified of their documentation.
- After checking original documents and making sure that they are medically fit, the board publishes the final merit list.
- Metro Railway Administration makes the final decision on selection and its decision remains final and binding.
