Recruitment Procedure for SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2026
The examination for the SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Recruitment 2026 for Central Govt. jobs will have two phases:
Computer-Based Examination (CBE)
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: 50 Qs (50 Marks)
- General Awareness: 50 Qs (50 Marks)
- English Language & Comprehension: 100 Qs (100 Marks)
- Duration: 2 hours (2 hours 40 mins for scribe-eligible candidates)
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer

- Grade C: 100 wpm dictation (10 mins)
- Transcription Time: 40 mins (English) / 55 mins (Hindi)
- For Scribe-Eligible: 55 mins (English) / 75 mins (Hindi)

Submission Process for SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2026
- Visit the official website at https://ssc.gov.in/
- Go to Notice Board for the post of “Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ Examination, 2026“.
- Login into the SSC official website via OTR facility with necessary information.
- Provide your Registration Number and Password then click on “Stenographer Grade C & D Examination 2026” under Live Exams.
- Supply relevant data such as educational qualifications, choice of post and examination center together with other documents if needed.
- Pay the required application fees through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or Debit card.
- Carefully review the information filled in the application form before making final submission.
- Click on the “Submit Application Form” button after that take a printout of the application form.
- Admit Card will be available on the SSC website ten days prior to the examination date.

Yes, candidates from any states or UT can apply. In fact, candidates can select any three cities for the exam in India regardless of the state they belong to.
The Commission allows a correction window from May 20-21, 2026. During this time, you can rectify your mistakes for a charge of Rs. 200/- (if it is your first change) or Rs. 500/- (if it is your second change). No further editing will be allowed after that.
The speed of dictation (100 wpm for Grade C, 80 wpm for Grade D) is the same for everyone. However, People with Disabilities (PwD) get extra time for transcription comparing to the time given to the others (e.g. 55 mins to 40 mins for English Grade C).
You don’t have to produce any documents when you apply. However, you only have to scan and upload a recent photo, signature and disability certificate if you have one. Originals are checked at the time of Document Verification.
