UPSC CGSE 2027: Selection Procedure

• The candidates are first required to appear for the Preliminary Examination which is an objective type examination of 400 marks.
• Preliminary Examination is used for shortlisting candidates for Main Examination, in a six to seven ratio to the total number of vacancies.
• The Main Examination carries 600 marks and uses a conventional descriptive format. Shortlisted candidates take this examination after qualifying in the Preliminary Exami
• One-third of the marks awarded to a question is deducted for each incorrect response in the Preliminary Examination.
• The qualified candidates are called for Personality Test (200 marks)
• Final merit is prepared for combining and getting mark in combination of the Main Examination and Personality Test
