High court of judicature at Bombay (Principal seat at Bombay, Bench at Nagpur and Aurangabad) has opened up to various vacancies such as Clerk, stenographer (higher grade), stenographer (lower grade), driver and peon/hamal/farash for which they are offering excellent opportunities as Judiciary Jobs in India. Graduates who are domiciled in Maharashtra will be invited to apply online before January 5, 2026. Selection can also include screening / written tests, skill tests (shorthand/typing /driving), viva-voce/interview (depending on applicant), document verification and medical examination. The successful candidates are to be recruited at the Principal Seat in Bombay or Nagpur/Aurangabad Bench.

Eligibility Criteria

Clerk
  • Must hold a recognized graduate degree; candidates with a Law qualification will
    be given preference.
  • Required English typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute.
  • Mandatory certification in computer operations.
Stenographer (Higher Grade)
  • Graduation from a recognized university, preferably in Law or a minimum of 5
    years’ service.
  • Required shorthand typing speed is 100 w.p.m. or higher.
  • English typing ability of 40 words per minute.
  • Valid computer proficiency certificate required.
Stenographer (Lower Grade)
  • Graduate degree from a recognized university, preferably with a Law background,
    or at least 3 years of experience.
  • Shorthand speed of 80 words per minute.
  • English typing speed of 40 words per minute.
  • Computer proficiency certification is mandatory.
Driver
  • Must have passed the SSC or equivalent examination.
  • Working knowledge of Marathi and/or Hindi languages.
  • Possession of a valid LMV driving licence.
  • Minimum three years of practical driving experience.
  • Basic understanding of motor vehicle maintenance and operations.
Peon / Hamal / Farash
  • Should have passed at least the 7th standard.
  • Must be able to read and communicate in Marathi.
  • Physically fit to perform assigned duties.
  • Additional skills, if prescribed, will be considered.

Selection Process

  • Applicants will pass through a Screening/Written Test (objective type, on topics related to the post)
  • Skill Test (Typing/Shorthand/Driving as per the post) will be done by qualified candidates.
  • Viva-voce/Interview shall be conducted on shortlisted candidates.
  • Verification of documents shall be carried out among the successful candidates who have passed the earlier stages.
  • The end selection shall be on Medical Examination and Police Check.

Bombay high court has issued a total of 2331 vacancies under various jobs such as Clerk, Stenographer (Higher and Lower Grade), Driver and Peon/Hamal/Farash. These are divided into these Principal Seat at Bombay and Bench at Nagpur and Aurangabad. The official notification must be thoroughly explained to the candidates on how to distribute and reserve establishment wise before they apply online.

Role selection is dependent on role. Clerks are tested by having a screening test, typing test and viva-voce. Stenographers are subject to shorthand and typing examinations after which they are subjected to viva-voce. Drivers undergo written and driving exams and applicants in the Peon/Hamal/Farash category come to take objective tests and interviews. The stages are supposed to determine speed, accuracy, knowledge and fit in the job.

This will be 18 or 21 years of age depending on the position. The upper age limit is 38 and 43 years respectively in case of general and reserved categories. The upper age limit is not applicable to employees of the High Court or Government who apply using the correct channels.
