Computer Based Test Structure and Marking Scheme

Medical Fitness Standards for Railway Posts

• Standard A2: Goods Train Manager is required and must pass colour, binocular, and night vision tests.
• Standard B2: As a minimum, candidates will be required to have distant visual acuity (both eyes together) of 6/9 and 6/12 with or without glasses and not more than 4D power lens.
• Standard C2: Junior Accounts Assistant and Senior Clerk needs this, distant vision of 6/12 either with or without glasses.
• For Lasik Surgery candidates: If a candidate gets Lasik or any other surgery, he/she will not be able to apply for A2 posts but can apply for B2 posts and C2 posts as per Railway Board Conditions.
• Appeal for Medical: If a candidate does not pass the medical exam on the first occasion, he/she can appeal for the last medical exam with payment of the prescribed fee. The decision of the appeal is final.
• No Alternate Posting: RRBs will not provide an alternate posting to the candidates who do not meet the medical standards for selected posts. All the candidates who are interested in RRB NTPC Graduate Vacancy 2026 should check the medical standards in advance.

Stage-Wise Selection Roadmap for RRB NTPC Graduate Recruitment 2026

• The recruitment starts with a Computer Based Test (CBT) of 100 Questions for 90 minutes which is common to all four posts, comprising of General Awareness, Mathematics and Reasoning sections.
• One wrong answer will result in losing 1/3 of the mark and the RRBs will use normalised scores to shortlist candidates who are 15 times the community-wise vacancies.
• The 2nd Stage CBT has 120 questions that will be answered in 90 minutes, General Awareness has 50, Mathematics has 35 and Reasoning has 35.
• Qualifying marks for UR and EWS is 40%, for OBC-NCL and SC it is 30% and for ST it is 25%. If there are inadequate candidates then RRBs can reduce the qualifying marks by 2 marks for PwBD candidates.
• The RRB’s have eliminated typing skill tests, but typing and basic computer skills will be determined at the time of the applicant’s induction.
• RRBs invite candidates matching the number of vacancies for verification of documents and as per the vacancies, medical exam. In the event of a tie, they will settle it by age, then alphabetically by family name.
• By allotting the posts and zones to empanelled candidates on the basis of merit, preferences, medical standard and vacancies, the RRBs open the doors to Central Government Jobs in India in Railway Zones.
